We always hoped it would be brotherly love at first sight. We even gave them both Army names so they would feel like brothers in arms. Gunner took to Scout right away. Always hovering over him to make sure he was warm, cozy, and happy. He wouldn’t eat until Scout started eating, he’d only sleep if Scout was cuddled near by, and he’d only chew shoes that he knew Scout would enjoy sharing with him (usually the expensive ones).

We were sure the love was one sided for the first few months, but Scout came around, and now he loves Gunner like a fat dog loves rawhide. They work as a team to try to catch squirrels, they spend time together digging holes in the back yard, and they have been playing a thrilling game of Hide-Bone-And-Seek for the last 9 months. They’ve even mastered the “you distract the human while I steal his food” scheme.

Lock up your shoes and hold onto your plates!!! Gunner and Scout are inseparable; true brothers for life.
